Improving Supplier Onboarding with our Storefront Completeness Scoring Tool
Knowde’s onboarding experience
At Knowde, we are constantly striving to get Suppliers up and running on our platform as quickly and easily as possible. Chemical Suppliers are busy, detail-oriented users, who want their Knowde Storefronts to be as complete as possible to provide their customers the best experience.
At times, collecting all the details necessary to finalize their Knowde Storefront can be time consuming for Suppliers. We wanted to reduce the time and complexity for new users and their companies, despite the intricate information collection and transfer process involved.
In order to accomplish this, we developed a Storefront Completeness indicator which lives inside our Supplier Dashboard.

Creating a better onboarding experience
One of Knowde’s ongoing objectives is the continuous improvement of all of our processes, tools and features.
To enhance our onboarding experience, we sought feedback from a number of our suppliers, who told us:
- onboarding was lengthy and a bit convoluted;
- there were too many different touchpoints with our onboarding team; and,
- they wanted the ability to see everything they needed to do in one place, and the ability to complete tasks on their own time.
From this, we identified several areas for improvement, including:
- giving users more control over their onboarding journey;
- providing clearer guidance on tasks that needed to be completed; and,
- a new tool to inform storefront readiness and help ensure a supplier’s success on Knowde.
The role of Storefront Completeness in onboarding
Knowde gave the new tool a name: Storefront Completeness. This is essentially the “owner’s manual” for a user during the onboarding process. The Storefront Completeness tool:
- outlines each task suppliers need to complete;
- enables them to directly navigate to the page within their storefront where they can complete the task; and,
- provides a guided walkthrough of what needs to be done.
To enable the best-possible outcome, Knowde devised a scoring system to communicate to users how much they have accomplished, and what’s left to be done.
Early feedback from users tells us this tool is helpful in motivating them to complete the tasks necessary to get their storefront up-and-running. Shortly after launching this feature, we saw major engagement by users with the tool.
As new suppliers join Knowde, many are using (and very happy with) the tool. We’ve already observed a decrease in the time to complete onboarding following this feature release, and we’re excited to iterate on Storefront Completeness to keep making this process faster and easier!
